About

Benghazi University Medical Journal (BUMJ) is a semi-annual, double-blind, peer-reviewed, online, and open-access journal. This journal was previously known as the Garyounis Medical Journal, which was the first Libyan medical journaland one of the oldest medical journals in the Arab world. Its first issue was published in January 1976. The name of Garyounis Medical Journal had been changed to Benghazi Medical Journal, and since August 2023, it has become Benghazi University Medical Journal. The BUMJ publishes original articles, reviews, and interesting case reports. Also, the journal publishes brief communications that include recent advances in diagnosis, therapy, or other health-related concerns that are crucial to the growth of the healthcare system and welcomes correspondence regarding any of the published articles.

Frequency: Two volume per year-every 6 months(The accepted article will be published online within one month)

Mission and objectives :

  1. To encourage and disseminate medical research in order to meet the needs of current research
  2. To publish original, meticulously researched, peer-reviewed articles in the basic and clinical sciences.
  3. To improve young researchers' research aptitude and build their scientific writing capacity.
  4. To keep medical professionals up to date on the latest scientific knowledge in a variety of health science areas, including basic and clinical specialties
  5. To disseminate the information for the benefit of the patients and the health of the community in general.

Scope The scope of the journal includes all facets of medical sciences, integrating basic, clinical, and community health researches to address all facets of human health. The scope of the journal also includes medical education.
