Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the effect of fruit species on infection by bacterial soft rot disease caused by Enterobacter cloacae. Three types of fruits were used: apricot, peach, and plum. The results showed that disease symptoms appeared on apricot and peach fruits. The infection rate reached 37% in apricot samples and 70% in peach samples. In contrast, plum samples were not infected and no symptoms were observed. These results indicate a clear effect of fruit species on susceptibility to bacterial soft rot disease.

Key words: Enterobacter cloacae, Apricot, Peach, Plum, Soft rot.
