Structuralism: Procedure and Application

Abstract

he Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure revolutionized all the sciences of language to establish - after that - a science of literature, and he developed a concept of the linguistic system that penetrated into the essence of the meaning of composition or construction, or syntactic structure, until he concluded with a new idea of the synthetic structure: the signifier and the signified, and then The formation of the logical, social, and psychological signs that link the expressions from the point of view of the linguistic communication system: the creator, the recipient, and the message, until the level of structural linguistics.

Saussure laid down rules for structural analysis through in-depth studies to find a relationship between language and literature, reveal the rules for organizing linguistic structure, highlight sentence patterns and their relationships to each other, and analyze the function of language in its various structures, and its impact on the recipient and his reaction to it.

Accordingly, I labeled my research as a theorizing structural approach and conducting an applied descriptive study.

It was divided into two sections:

                                                                                                    The first topic - De Saussure's structural approach through opposing dualities - language and speech, contextual and suggestive relationships, simultaneous and successive studies, substitutional and contextual, temporal and fixed axis, unity and moral values. Research.

As for the other section, I applied the structural method to the poem “The Sun” by the Libyan poet Muhammad Ibn Sufiya from his collection of poems, Al-Bayan, in a structural application. I followed these two sections with results, recommendations, a summary, and an index of the contents of the research
