Abstract

The phenomenon of illegal migration is considered as one of the most dangerous
phenomena that started with the beginning of the nineties of the last century with its
carrying a lot of risk and anxiety sources which threatens international stability and
security, especially after the events of September and Madrid. Libya has unique geostrategic location on the Southern costal line of the Mediterranean which enables it to
play an exceptional role in attracting immigrants from Africa, Particularly after the
events of February which was followed by a security vacuum. Thus, this study target
is to shed light on the size of this phenomenon and its trends, and to discuss and
analyze the main reasons and motives for Migration, also the survey focuses on
routes which migrants take from origin areas to the desired areas. The survey has
used various methods such as the historical method and the analytical method and
descriptive in the analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data which has collected
from field and theoretical survey. It has found that the most of the illegal immigration
to Europe was through Libya, and the economic and political conditions such as
poverty, unemployment, wars and conflicts were the most important factors driving
the secret migration
