Al-Ittihad Sports Club and its cultural, social and political role in Tripoli 1943-1969

The establishment of football sports teams in Libya began since the Italian occupation, that is, before the twenties of the last century, but their formation was for a short period of time or for certain occasions. Granting official licenses to these institutions to enable them to practice their legitimate sports, cultural and social activities in accordance with the laws and administrative regulations.
Local newspapers indicate that there were sports teams that were established in some cities and regions at an early period, as they were mentioned as sports clubs. In 1922, the Italian authorities granted a license to establish Ghadames Club (the Al-Samoud Club currently), but most of those interested in sports activity and contemporaries of that period They assert that these clubs were not in the form they are known now, given that the clubs in their known form did not appear in Libya until the mid-fifties of the last century
