This study discusses employment of Theory of Vital Scope in NATO’s new strategy. The problem of the study revolves around the change that took place after the deconstruction of pre-Soviet Union and collapse of Warsaw Pact. The main question of the study is: What strategy NATO has based on in order to change its strategy from defending into attacking? The study, also, has posed some sub-questions; the most important of which is: How and when could NATO employ Theory of Vital Scope in its new strategy? Through the scientific methodology, which is based on methods and facets mentioned earlier in the rationale, the study has reached some findings. Amongst of which is that NATO strategy has passed several prominent historical stages. When the NATO had been founded, it was basically defended. After the Cold War had finished, and the international regime had changed for the United States, NATO encountered the concern of clash between its constitution that did not permit it to interfere in territories outside its limits and the security threats that threatened its members’ interests all over the world. Accordingly, NATO had adopted a new strategy, considering any region in the world is important and under its vital scopes that should be defended in cases of being subject to any threats. Based to this strategy, NATO interfered in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and other regions around the world, basing on security and humanitarian justifications.
