Romantic love triangle among a sample from married couples and lovers at the University of Benghazi

Abstract

The study aimed to know the differences between married couples and lovers in the components of love " Intimacy، passion، decision / commitment"، as well as the differences between married couples who have relationships with the opposite sex through social media، and married couples who do not have the same relationships in the components of love Intimacy، passion، decision / commitment. And also aimed to know the nature of the relationship of the length of marriage with the components of love. To verify this، the Romantic Love Triangle Scale prepared by Sternberg (1997) was applied to a sample of 136 married and 102 lovers.

The results showed that there were differences between married couples and lovers in the two components of Intimacy and decision / commitment in favor of married couples، while the differences in the passion component were in favor of lovers، and the results did not reveal the presence of differences between husbands and wives in the components of love; except in the affinity component، and the differences were For the benefit of couples. The results also did not reveal the existence of differences between lovers and lovers in the components of love; except in the component of passion، and the differences came in favor of lovers. The results showed that there were differences between married couples who had relationships with the opposite sex and married couples who did not have the same relationships in the components of love، and the differences were in favor of married couples who had no relationships. The results also revealed a negative and negative correlation between the length of the marriage period and the passion component. The results also showed that there was no correlation between the length of the marriage period and both the Intimacy component and the decision / commitment component.
