Abstract

This study was carried out to test the effect of some plant extracts (leave and seeds of Juniperus) with alchohle and cold water against two species of bacteria Erwinia Carotovora, Agrobacterium tumfaceins and another two pathogenic species may cause diseases to human and animals, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. All extracts have given an inhibition on tested bacteria, the higher level was 150 ml in diameter, and the highest result recorded with ethanol extract of Juniperus leaves against Erwinia Carotovora (25.4) ml in diameter while seed extract was (20.4) ml in diameter. Also the results have shown that the effect of Juniperus extracts were more effective than an antibiotic, so plant extracts may use to medicate some diseases instead of medicine with low cost and without any side effects.
