Review Processes

The journal's peer review process as follows:

  • Al-Manara Scientific Journal employs a double-blind peer review process, where both the authors and reviewers are kept anonymous from each other throughout the review process
  • Reviews are conducted by two highly qualified, credible, and serious specialists in the specific field.
  • After an initial review, the submitted manuscript is checked using Crossref Similarity check tool; the overall similarity index must not exceed 20%.
  • If the percentage is unacceptable (> 20%)- The research is rejected after a careful review of the similarity report. An apology letter is sent to the author.
  • If the percentage is unacceptable (<20%), the review process is completed.
  • If the research is accepted for review, the editor-in-chief, in consultation with the editorial board members, selects two reviewers for the manuscript.
  • The research, with the author's name removed, is sent to the reviewers along with a review evaluation form containing six assessment criteria. The final decision may be as follows:
  • Accepted for publication
  • Accepted with minor revision
  • Accepted with major revision
  • Rejected (reasons to be stated in detail)
  • The review period is one week, starting from the day the research is assigned to the reviewer and they are notified. The reviewer will be reminded if they exceed this period. Upon the request of the reviewer, the review may be extended for another week. If the review is not completed within two weeks, the manuscript will be immediately assigned to another reviewer.
  • Reviewer comments must be clear and precise.
  • The researcher will be notified of the reviewers' decision via email.
  • If the manuscript is accepted with minor or major revisions, the author will be notified via email, and he will be required to submit a revised version of the manuscript within a specified timeframe.
  • - The author sends the revised manuscript with all comments by email.
  • - The editorial board verifies that the revisions have been made.
  • If the revisions are not made, the manuscript is sent back to the researcher. If they are not made for a second time, the manuscript is rejected.
  • If the revisions are made, the manuscript may be sent back to the reviewers for final check, and may be finally accepted. Before final publication, the manuscript is checked for plagiarism for the second time, ensuring that the percentage does not exceed 20%.
  • If the manuscript is rejected by both reviewers, an apology letter will be sent to the researcher. A detailed report must be written in this case, explaining the reasons and justifications for the rejection of the paper's publication.
  • If the reviewers disagree, a third reviewer is appointed to resolve the conflict.
  • Accepted papers are prepared for publication
  • - The issue is uploaded to the journal's website and made available in its approved databases.
