منهج ابن قُرقُمَاس في التفسير (نماذج مختارة من كتابه فتح الرحمن في تفسير القرآن)

Abstract

his study aims to highlight the methodology of Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Qurqumas (may Allah have mercy on him) through his book Fath al-Rahman fi Tafsir al-Qur’an. The researcher has limited the study to selected samples from Fath al-Rahman fi Tafsir al-Qur’an, focusing on the chapters: Al-Mumtahina, As-Saff, and Al-Jumu’a, to elucidate the approach adopted by the author in his interpretation, particularly concerning the principles and methods of exegesis. This includes interpreting the Qur’an through the Qur’an itself, interpreting the Qur’an through the Sunnah, and interpreting the Qur’an based on the statements of the Companions and the Followers.
Additionally, the study examines his methodology regarding Qur’anic sciences, as reflected in his introductions to the chapters, reasons for revelation (Asbab al-Nuzul), and the science of correlations (Ilm al-Munasabat). The study reveals that Ibn Qurqumas exerted significant effort in interpreting the Qur’an, and his work is considered part of the Tafsir bil-Ma’thur (exegesis based on transmitted reports). Despite the variety of techniques he employed in his interpretation of the Qur’anic verses, he did not explicitly cite the sources he relied upon in his exegesis.
