Data Sharing and Open Science Policy

The Journal fully adopts the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science (2021), which emphasizes the necessity of making data and scientific evidence accessible to ensure research quality, reproducibility, and the verifiability of results. This policy aims to accelerate scientific discovery within the fields of media and communication studies, while strengthening public trust in scholarly research.

Implementation of FAIR Principles and Data Governance

Authors' commitment to managing research data in accordance with the four FAIR Guiding Principles is a fundamental prerequisite for manuscript evaluation and acceptance for publication:

  • Findable: Depositing data in a recognized, trusted repository that assigns it a persistent identifier, such as a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
  • Accessible: Providing data freely and openly through standard, authorized technical protocols.
  • Interoperable: Saving data in structured, open formats that allow for automated reading and advanced computational analysis.
  • Reusable: Attaching a clear usage license (such as CC-BY 4.0) that explicitly outlines the conditions for usage, citation, and archiving.

Data Availability Statement (DAS)

Authors are required to include a Data Availability Statement (DAS) as a standalone section immediately preceding the references. In this section, authors must specify the access pathway to the data associated with their research, selecting one of the following formal options:

  1. Providing the persistent link (URL/DOI) to the public repository where the data is deposited.
  2. Stating that the data is available upon reasonable request from the Editor-in-Chief.
  3. Clarifying the compelling legal or ethical reasons that prevent data sharing (such as protecting participant privacy or maintaining information security confidentiality).
