Abstract

This study seeks to study the political participation rate (registered people in the elections), in elections between the branches of the EL Beida Municipal Council. And analysis of the natural, human and economic factors affecting the elections of the EL Beida Municipal Council. As well as to clarify differences, in terms of the influence of some personal factors (age - gender - educational level - employment - income) on behavior of a voter in the EL Beida Municipal Council. In order to reach the aims of the study, it was based on the ecological and spatial methods to measure and explain the spatial influences on voter's behavior and to associate this behavior to the environmental and geographical factors in the study area. The results of the study revealed that the family and tribe factor is still the main influence on elections of the study area in general and the rural branches in particular. The participation of female in the electoral process was 44.3% of the total registered, which is less than the participation of male 55.7% of the total registered in the municipality. This is due to the marginalization of the role of women and their weak political awareness. Therefore, the study recommends raising the level of political cultural in all segments of Libyan society so that they know their rights and political missions, and enhance the sense of belonging to the homeland. And the interest of the various media, visual or audio or other official means of communication of the state, encouraging citizens to participate in the political process.
