Abstract

Despite the significant progress in the field of environmental action and the sustainable development process in the Arab countries, which was achieved during the period following the Rio Declaration, a large number of countries in the Arab world continue to face many obstacles to the adoption and implementation of sustainable development plans and programs. The study aimed to shed light on the issue of sustainable development and its main obstacles and what are the most important requirements for achieving them. Also, The study relied on the descriptive approach in analyzing the aspects of sustainable development and concluding facts. Finally the study reached the main obstacles that prevent sustainable development as well as the most important requirements that help in achieving it.
