Abstract

Divorce becomes familiar to every body in society nowadays no matter if it is western or otherwise. The Libyan socity is not an exception in this case. We are lestening lately to so many cases of divorce in the city of Benghazi to the ecxtent that every body is talking about it. Therefore, the presnt study aims to inestigate the phnoman of divorce and its reasons,and show if it is similar to what the sociological literature indicats. The study utilized a varity of methods,to give a cleare picture i.e in depth interviews with judges, lawyers, and court experts. At tha same time, the divorce,s  docmuntes were used. The study utilized some case studies as will.                    

The study shows that the rate of diveorce in the city of Benghazi fluctuates. The rate increased among the 30-49 category. The evidence show that the divorce cases increased in 2019, and divorce hapend in the early years of the marriag. The findings state that women demand for divorce more than men. The study shows that most of the divorced women were housewives, and the divorced men have different gobs. Among the reasons that were found in the divorce documents were physical and verbal abuse, neglect of home or children, absence, finanicial problems, family interference, and drug as will as drinking addiction
