Abstract

Lower back pain is a problem that is a worldwide phenomenon as well as in Libya, which led to the thinking of doing this research as a comparative study to identify the prevalence of lower back pain among a sample of women practicing and non-practicing physical activity.

The descriptive approach was used for its relevance to the nature of the research, and the Rolandmoris questionnaire, as a tool for data collection, as it was distributed to the members of the research sample, which numbered (20) women who did not practice physical activities chosen from the employees of the Social Solidarity Authority in the city of Benghazi, in addition to (12) students who practice physical activity chosen from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, the following findings were reached :

The high prevalence of lower back pain among the research sample who did not practice physical activity (employees of the Social Solidarity Authority, Al-Hadayek - Benghazi). The low prevalence of lower back pain among the research sample practicing physical activity (Female Students of the Faculty of Physical Education, University of Benghazi).

In the light of these findings, the researcher recommends the necessity of practicing preventive exercises on a regular basis in offices while working in professions that require sitting and standing for a long periods of time, and conducting research and scientific studies on lower back pain as well as conducting periodic medical and physical examinations at regular intervals.
