Abstract

The study aims to identify the impact of memorizing the Holy Qur’an on the academic achievement of primary school students in Al-Jabal Al -Akhtar ‘The green mountain district’, through their academic averages obtained during the academic year (2019-2020).

    The researcher was used the comparative approach To describe and explain the current situation and began by mentioning an introduction to the virtues of the Qur’an and its preservation supported by verses, hadiths and the sayings of scholars. In addition, a historical overview of teaching of Quran was mention in the province of Cyrenaica in terms of the emergence of schools in the desert and urban areas, while mentioning some previous studies that dealt with the subject of the study. Also, the researcher was used statistical method to compare the students' data represented in the results of the study subjects (mathematic, Arabic language and Islamic education) In order to extract frequency, ratios, mean and standard deviation.

The sample of the study was consisted of 100 students by reference to their academic records in public and private schools students were enrolled in, 50 of them were chosen in an intentional way as the students were enrolled in the memorization centers in Al-Jabal Al -Akhtar region in the cities of Al-Bayda and Shahat. In particular, and 50 were randomly selected, The whole of study sample was enrolled in the classroom from Third grade to sixth grade.

The result was shown a positive impact and a clear superiority for the students affiliated with the memorization centers, and the study was concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important factors were: Increasing the number of Quran chapters prescribed for students in the primary school curricula, taking care that teachers of Islamic education and Arabic language were among the memorizers of Quran , as well as interest in preparing Quran memorizers. And work to improve the students by taking training courses in teaching methods and used of modern technology. Furthermore encouraging children of all ages to enroll in Quran memorization centers.
