Abstract

The study was conducted on one of the gas stations in the city of Benghazi (Al-Ferjani station) during the year 2020 in order to conduct an evaluation of it and determine the extent of its commitment to the agreed environmental conditions. Taking into account some of the organizational and design matters related to this service sector, and without supervision or control over the work of gas stations, and it was noted that there is no comprehensive mechanism to monitor work in them, which may lead to these stations becoming a source that may threaten the environment with pollution. The study showed that the station is in a good location It is from residential buildings and is 200 m away from the nearest other gas station, but it is about 500 m away from the nearest military facility. itself is an environmental hazard. As it was previously indicated that the station was established in 1973 AD, the shelf life of the fuel tanks was determined to be 25 years, (and this was confirmed to us by the station supervisor), it is possible to assume that they exceeded the shelf life, making them vulnerable to leakage.
