Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The abstract should be limited to 250 words in italic font.
  • Text: Written in Times new Roman font with size 12.
  • Acknowledgements: Should include the institution that funds the research if any and the grant number or code.
  • References: Authors must site all the references they used inside the paper text. The style of the references follows the American Medical Association (AMA) style as follows:
  • Electronic: Author(s)[Last name, First Initial, ]. Title. Journal Name. Year; vol (issue #): inclusive pages. DOI (if electronic) (If there is no DOI, include the URL and access date and time).
  • Example: Shim P, Choi D, Park Y. Association of blood fatty acid composition and dietary pattern with the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in patients who underwent cholecystectomy. Ann Nutr Metab. 2017;70(4):303–311. doi:10.1159/000475605.
  • Reference to a book: For any book type, the order of the elements should be as follows:
    Author(s) [Last name, First Initial, ], (whole book or chapter), Chapter title, Editors (if second or above) and translators, Book title, Publisher name, Copyright year, page numbers. URL (if online or electronic book).
  • Example: Conrad P, Gallagher EB. Health and Health Care in Developing Countries: Sociological Perspectives. 1st Edition. Temple University Press; 1993.
  • Chapter within a Book: Author(s). Chapter title. In: Editor(s). Book Title. Edition number. Publisher name; copyright year:inclusive pages. (Include URL if the book is online)
  • Example: Solensky R. Drug allergy: desensitization and treatment of reactions to antibiotics and aspirin. In: Lockey P, ed. Allergens and Allergen Immunotherapy. 3rd ed. New York, NY: Marcel Dekker; 2004:585-606.
  • Reference to a website:The minimum information of a website reference should be listed as follows:
    Author(s) (or, if no author is available, the name of the group responsible for the site). Title of the specific item (or, if no title is available, the name of the organization responsible for the site). Name of the Web site. Date published. Date updated. Date Accessed. URL.
  • Example: Cancer Research UK. Cancer statistics reports for the UK, 2003. Accessed 13 March 2003. http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/aboutcancer/statistics/cancerstatsreport/
  • Reference to a dataset: The minimum information of a dataset reference should be listed as follows:
    Author(s). Title of entry. In: Title of database [database online]. Place of publication: Publisher; Year. URL. Updated date. Accessed date.
  • Example:Acetaminophen poisoning. In: DynaMed [database online]. EBSCO Information Services.http://0search.ebscohost.com.topcat.switchinc.org/login.aspx?direct=true&site=DynaMed&id=113862. Updated March 09, 2010. Accessed March 23, 2010.
  • In-text citation: Authors must cite their references by the number listed in the references section. Example: According to [3]. According to [3], [2] and [24].

Author Guidelines

Manuscript:

Libyan Journal of Public Health Practices focus to publish 3 types of articles, include original, review and case study articles. The submitted manuscript should be in two columns and double spaced.

In general, the submitted manuscript should include the following sections:

  • Abstract: a max of 250
  • Keywords: min is 5.
  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements
  • Conflict of interests
  • References

 For review papers, the submitted manuscript word count should be between 500 – 1500 words excluding abstract, references and appendices, and a max of 6 tables and/or figures.

Original article

For original papers, the submitted manuscript word count should no more than 3500 words excluding abstract, references and appendices, and a max of 6 tables and/or figures.

Review article

In this article, the authors analyze and synthesize information from multiple studies to provide a comprehensive overview of a specific topic.

For review papers, the submitted manuscript word count should be no more than 4000 words excluding abstract, references, and appendices, and a max of 6 tables and/or figures.

Case study

this article describes specific instances or cases in detail, often with the aim of illustrating a particular phenomenon or medical condition.

For review papers, the submitted manuscript word count should be between 500 – 1500 words excluding abstract, references and appendices, and a max of 6 tables and/or figures.
