Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of social media in reshaping human relationships among
students at the University of Benghazi. It measures the level of social media usage, identifies
the dimensions of its positive and negative impacts, and explores statistically significant
differences based on demographic variables (gender, specialization, and academic level).
The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, applied to an equal stratified random
sample of (320) male and female students from various university faculties. Data were
collected via an electronic questionnaire, with verified validity and reliability. The results
indicated a high level of social media usage among students, with positive effects outweighing
the negative ones. Furthermore, statistically significant differences in impact were found
attributed to gender and academic level, while no significant differences were observed
regarding specialization. The findings are discussed in light of the theoretical framework and
previous literature. The study concludes with practical recommendations for university
administrations, families, and students, alongside suggestions for future research.
