The Importance of Balanced Scorecard in Managing Intellectual Investment at Universities

The balanced scorecard has notably caught the attention of the practitioners and academics in the field of the management accounting. Using a variety of performance measures focus on both financial and non-financial aspects, the tool has been considered useful to evaluate for-profit and non-for-profit organizations.
This research paper investigates the importance of balanced scorecard in motivating universities intellectual investment. Data was collected using a questionnaire survey distributed on academics at accounting and business administration departments.
The paper reached a conclusion that the participants recognize the importance of the balanced scorecard in supporting the intellectual investment at universities, which can eliminate the barriers and facilitate the adoption of the tool, such as work environment and qualified people.
