Teaching self-efficacy of university faculty members according to some variables

A field study on a sample of faculty members at the University of Derna-Al-Qobba

Abstract

The study aimed to know the level of perceived self-efficacy among faculty members, as well as to identify the differences between the averages of the respondents' responses in the perceived self-efficacy according to the variable of gender (males-females), scientific specialization, educational qualification, academic degree, using the descriptive approach. analytical study, and the sample size was (135) from faculty members at the University of Derna. In this study, a questionnaire was applied to measure the general self-efficacy prediction of (Jerusalem and Schwarzwr, 1986, T.: Samer Radwan). It consists of (10) statements, after verifying their validity and stability. The study was conducted in 2021. Several statistical procedures were used, including (the “T” test, averages and percentages, and analysis of variance), and the data were analyzed using the SPSS program, and the results showed that there were statistically significant differences (at the level of 0.01), between the average The sample and the hypothetical average are in favor of the sample average, which indicates a high level of teaching self-efficacy for the sample as a whole This indicates that the faculty members are somewhat satisfied with their teaching performance and their ability to give, while the results did not show any differences between the faculty members in the level of teaching self-efficacy according to the variables of gender (male - female), specialization (scientific - literary), qualification Scientific (Master - PhD), scientific degree (Assistant Lecturer - Lecturer - Assistant Professor - Associate Professor - Professor).
