The mental image of the digital media among academics in higher education institutions: A field study on faculty members in the Faculties of Arts and Sciences, University of Derna

This study aimed to identify the impressions and perceptions formed by academics towards digital media and media, and to reveal the most digital media that academics are keen to follow up and their opinions on the contents provided, and to identify the extent to which academics need to activate digital media and media, using the media survey method, on The faculty members of the Faculties of Arts and Sciences, Derna, amounting to 87 faculty members, using a comprehensive enumeration method. This study reached several results, the most important of which are:
- The study showed that 87.4% of the respondents follow digital media.
- 100% of the respondents who do not follow the digital media admitted that their lack of follow-up is due to the weakness of the digital infrastructure in the country.
- The study showed that 90% of the respondents follow the traditional media, television. Because it is characterized by immediate delivery to the largest possible number of individuals.
- The study showed that 97.7% of the respondents follow the digital media and social networking sites.
- Digital media has a role in shaping the mental image of the respondents by 81.6% through its influence on public opinion and contributing to shaping their perceptions and impressions of local issues.
• The positive perception formed in the minds of the respondents through the digital media is that it reflects the concerns of the citizen and addresses his problems, as the percentage of this perception reached 97.7%
