Spatial Analysis of Bakeries and Variations in Their Production Roles in the City of Al-Abyar from 2000 to 2023: A Study in Economic Geography

Abstract

This study addressed the issue of bakeries in terms of number, distribution and variation between neighborhoods in the city of Al-Abyar, especially during the period specified for the study, during which the city suffered from many problems that led to a shortage of bread and a rise in its price in the city, which forced residents to stand in front of bakeries for long hours, as well as the unavailability of bread in the markets. This study showed the number of bakeries in the city, which amounted to about 30 bakeries owned by the private sector. The study also explained the sources of obtaining flour for these bakeries, the quantities of loaves of bread they produce, as well as the quantities of flour consumed daily, which vary from one bakery to another, starting from 1-2 quintals to 3-4 quintals of flour daily, and that a quintal of flour produces about 1600 loaves.
