The present study aims at identify the impacts of population growth rate and their urban settlements' evolution and its affecting the natural environment of the Aljbel Alkhder Region. A vast growth rate of population were revealed at most the urban settlements of the Aljbel Akhder region. Based on Censuses data ,i.e., an increase of populations growth rate were marked at the following Cities; Albeida , Almrj and Derna of (35967 , 23124) and (31957 persons') at the year of 1973 to (91110 ,58575) and (75344 persons) of the year 2006 . As well as, the population of these settlement's had also indicted clearly high growth rate, which it ranged between (2.4% - 2.6%) . The constructions of these urban settlements had also been rapidly increased over a wide areas, which it has estimated around between (65.3% - 89.7%).
As a result vast growth rate of population of this regions' had led to more pressure on the natural resources as well as over utilization of it. The region has also faced a shortage of plant and animal productivity due to the instability of agricultural production. This area in past and now faces the human pressure (negative development , and degradation as soil erosion , overgrazing , deforestation , and mismanagement ) affected wildlife habitat , many of the species were now very rarely , and decreased of vegetation cover areas , as well as ground water pollution , air pollution et.cit . Finally, the study has also contained a several solutions and recommendations to compact the deterioration of this regions ecosystem and its biodiversity.
Key words: Urban settlements' evolution, population growth rate , human pressure , environment degradation , ground water and air pollutions .
