Abstract

This study sought to reveal the maladaptive behavioral manifestations of mentally disabled children in the Al-Marj Social Care Complex from the parents point of view , and to identify the differences in the response of the sample members towards the children`s  maladaptive behavioral manifestations .

The study sample was all parents of mentally disabled children in the social care complex .30 questionnaire forms were distributed, 20 forms were obtained,and the adaptive behavior scale was applied . According to the American Society on Mental Retardation ( part two ) , which was adapted to the Egyptain environment (Farouk Sadiq (1985) ) and consists of fourteen maladaptive behavioral manifestations . its validity and reliability were found acceptable for the purposes of this study . the results of the current study indicated the presence of moderate and low levels of behavior. Maladaptive behavior among mentally disabled children in the social care complex from the point of view of parents. It became clear that the most widespread behavioral manifestations among children were at moderate levels, which were unacceptable vocal habits , withdrawal habits, unacceptable personal habits , bullying and disobedience behavior, western customs , and nervous behavior . Maladaptive behaviors that came in at low levels were : inappropriate social behavior , psychological and behavioral disorders, aggression, anti-social behavior , and proposals .
