Evaluation of the level of tactical performance in basketball for the Arab Championship 2018 and the World Championship 2019

Abstract

The assessment of the planned performance of the sports teams represents an important means of determining the physical, skill, mental and psychological capabilities that the players need according to the circumstances of the match to reduce the advantages of the competing teams and take advantage of their weaknesses to achieve victory in the legal framework of the game, so this research aims to assess the level of offensive tactical performance in basketball To guide this in setting specific standards and levels required for training programs related to the planning aspects of Libyan teams in basketball.

The descriptive approach was used in the research on a sample that included all recorded matches for the final rounds of the Arab Basketball Championship 2018 and all matches recorded for the final rounds of the World Basketball Championship 2019, and a registration form was designed for the purpose of assessing offensive and defensive plans, as the form included measuring several axes by recording the repetition of all skills Offensive and defensive duties performed by the players during the recorded matches for the final targeted rounds, whether with success or failure.

The results showed the superiority of foreign teams over Arab teams in offensive and defensive planning performance in terms of the rate of success cases and the number of failures. The number of successful attacks for each team as well as the total number of successful and failed defense cases for Arab and foreign teams, therefore, the researchers recommend the need to adopt performance analysis programs. For sports teams during matches, as it shows the total number of team attacks and the rates of success and failure in offensive and defensive duties, with the need to conduct similar research to analyze the kinematic performance of sports teams during matches in other sports activities and events.
