Copyright Policy

The Libyan Journal of Dentistry (LJD) operates an author-retains-copyright model, in line with the recommendations of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).

1.1  Ownership of Copyright

  • Authors retain copyright. Authors of articles published in LJD retain full copyright of their work without restriction or transfer to the journal or the publisher.
  • No transfer of copyright. By submitting to LJD, authors do not assign or transfer their copyright to the University of Benghazi, the Faculty of Dentistry, or the journal.
  • Non-exclusive licence to publish. Upon acceptance, authors grant LJD a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and display the article on the journal's platform and via subsequent indexing or aggregation services.
  • Right to be identified. LJD is identified as the original publisher of the article in all subsequent reuses.

1.2  Author Moral Rights

In accordance with the Berne Convention and Libyan intellectual-property law, the moral rights of the author — including the right of attribution and the right to the integrity of the work — are not affected by publication in LJD and cannot be waived.

1.3  Third-party Material

Where a manuscript contains material owned by a third party (figures, tables, lengthy quotations, instruments, or photographs), it is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission for both print and electronic reproduction prior to submission. The source must be clearly cited in the manuscript, and a copy of any permission letter must be supplied to the editorial office on request.

1.4  Copyright Notice on Published Articles

Each article published by LJD carries the following standard notice:

© [YearAuthors]. Published by the Libyan Journal of Dentistry, University of Benghazi. This is an open-access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

1.5  Unified Wording across the Journal Website

The journal website footer, the Information for Readers page, the Author Guidelines, and every published article template use the single wording "© [Year] Author(s); published by LJD under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0." The phrase "© University of Benghazi" does not appear in relation to copyright in published articles.
