Responsibilities of Editorial Board Members

The Editorial Board of the Libyan Journal of Dentistry is the working body that supports the Editor-in-Chief in the day-to-day editorial operation of the journal.

Membership

  • Members are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Faculty of Dentistry, for a renewable term of three years.
  • The Board reflects a diversity of expertise, geography, gender, and career stage.
  • The size of the Board is set by the Editor-in-Chief, normally between 12 and 24 members.

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Handle submitted manuscripts as handling editors, when assigned by the Editor-in-Chief;
  • Recommend appropriate reviewers from within and outside the journal's reviewer panel;
  • Provide expert advice on submissions within their area of expertise;
  • Contribute to editorial discussion of difficult cases, including appeals, complaints, and integrity matters.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Advise the Editor-in-Chief on the scope and direction of the journal;
  • Identify emerging topics, controversies, and opportunities for special issues;
  • Promote the journal within their own networks and at conferences.

Ethical Standards

  • Members act independently of commercial or institutional pressure;
  • Members declare conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from manuscripts in which they have a conflict;
  • Members maintain absolute confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and of editorial discussions.

Engagement and Meetings

  • The Editorial Board meets at least twice a year, in person or by video conference;
  • Members are expected to attend at least one of the two annual meetings;
  • Members respond to editorial requests within reasonable timeframes.
