Responsibilities of the Advisory Board

The Advisory Board of the Libyan Journal of Dentistry is a body of senior scholars and clinicians who advise the Editor-in-Chief on the strategic development of the journal. The Advisory Board does not handle manuscripts.

Membership

  • Members are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Faculty, for a renewable term of four years.
  • The Board normally comprises between 6 and 12 members.
  • Members are senior figures in dentistry, oral biology, related medical disciplines, or scholarly publishing.

Strategic Advisory Responsibilities

  • Advises the Editor-in-Chief on the long-term direction of the journal;
  • Comments on the journal's scope and its strategy for growth;
  • Advises on the journal's indexing strategy, including applications to DOAJ, Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and Arcif.

Policy and Integrity Responsibilities

  • Reviews the journal's principal policies at least every three years;
  • Provides an independent perspective on serious integrity matters, when invited by the Editor-in-Chief;
  • Acts as a court of last resort on internal appeals, where appropriate.

External Representation

  • Represents the journal in the international scholarly community;
  • Promotes the journal at conferences and within their professional networks;
  • Helps the journal recruit high-quality submissions, reviewers, and Editorial Board members.

Specific Tasks of the Advisory Board

  1. Provide advice and recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief on the development of the journal.
  2. Provide scientific and technical support to the journal.
  3. Encourage distinguished academic researchers to publish in the journal.
  4. Evaluate the general level of the journal's work, prepare an annual report, and submit it to the Editorial Board through the Editor-in-Chief; reports are not approved until after consideration by the Advisory Board.

Standards and Ethics

  • Members maintain confidentiality of editorial discussions;
  • Members disclose conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from advice on matters in which they have an interest.
