Submission Procedure

Until the journal's electronic submission system is publicly launched, all manuscripts are received by email at [email protected]. The journal is committed to deploying an online submission system in due course; this section will be updated when the system is available.

How to submit (current procedure — email)

  1. Prepare all files in accordance with §V-2 and §V-3 of this document.
  2. Address the cover letter to the Editor-in-Chief, Libyan Journal of Dentistry.
  3. Place all files in a single ZIP archive labelled with the corresponding author's surname and the submission date.
  4. Send the archive to [email protected] from the corresponding author's institutional email.
  5. Wait for an acknowledgement email from the editorial office within seven (7) working days.
  6. Quote the manuscript reference number assigned by the editorial office in all subsequent correspondence.

Future electronic submission system (audit items 104–107)

LJD plans to migrate to a dedicated online journal management system. When deployed, the system will support:

  • Author account creation with secure password and email verification (audit item 107).
  • Online submission of manuscripts, figures, supplementary files, and signed forms (audit items 104, 105, 106).
  • Automatic generation of a manuscript reference number.
  • Real-time status tracking through the editorial workflow.
  • Reviewer dashboards for invitation, acceptance, and submission of reviews.
  • Notifications and reminders by email.
  • Secure archive of decision letters, reviewer reports, and revised files.

Until the system is live, the journal will continue to receive submissions by email and will manually maintain an internal log of submissions, decisions, and timelines.

Acknowledgement of receipt

Within seven (7) working days of receiving a submission, the editorial office will:

  • Confirm receipt to the corresponding author.
  • Assign a manuscript reference number.
  • Check that all required files and forms are present.
  • Run an initial similarity check using iThenticate.
  • Forward eligible manuscripts to the Editor-in-Chief for initial screening.

What happens next

The full editorial workflow — from initial screening to publication — is described in §B-11 of Part IV (Publication Procedures and Editorial Workflow) and in §III-3 (Peer Review Page). Authors are encouraged to read those sections in conjunction with this submission procedure.
