Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher of the Libyan Journal of Dentistry is the University of Benghazi. The publisher provides the institutional home, resources, and governance under which the journal operates, while respecting the editorial independence of the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board.

Governance and Oversight

  • Appoints the Editor-in-Chief and, in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief, approves the appointment of members of the Editorial Board and Advisory Board;
  • Provides governance oversight of the journal as a whole;
  • Receives the annual editorial performance report from the Editor-in-Chief.

Resources and Infrastructure

  • Provides the editorial office and the staff, including the editorial secretariat;
  • Funds the journal's running costs, including the online platform, DOI registration, plagiarism-detection software, and digital preservation services;
  • Provides legal and information-technology support.

Compliance and Ethical Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the journal operates in compliance with applicable national laws and regulations;
  • Provides a clear escalation route for matters that exceed the editorial process;
  • Supports the journal's adherence to international publication-ethics standards (COPE, ICMJE, WAME).

Open Access and Sustainability

  • Maintains the journal's Diamond open-access model: no submission fees, no publication fees, no charges to authors of any kind;
  • Ensures the financial sustainability of the journal through institutional support;
  • Supports deposit of articles in digital preservation services so that the published record remains accessible in perpetuity.

Editorial Independence

  • Respects the editorial independence of the Editor-in-Chief and does not seek to influence editorial decisions on individual manuscripts;
  • Does not require the journal to publish content for commercial, political, or institutional reasons.

Publishing Services

  • Provides or arranges copy-editing, typesetting, and proofreading of accepted manuscripts;
  • Provides or arranges the registration of DOIs with Crossref and the deposit of metadata with indexing services;
  • Maintains the journal's archive and ensures continuity of access to published articles.
